GRACE … grace … grace … GRACE!
GRACE … grace … grace … GRACE!
When I met Stephanie, the creator of Documented Faith at an Illustrated Faith retreat in 2015, I remember her talking about creating her own products. Products in her signature style of handwriting that would provide jumping off points for women to document their faith in a creative way. These new products, available from Adorn It, are in my favorite black and white and super versatile.
I am sharing one simple layout that I created as the title page of my November Documented Gratitude notebook. The note to self is from the new stamp sets and a great jumping off point of all the things I want to tell myself. The title Note to Self … it’s time to cultivate a heart of gratitude.
For documenting in my bible, I used the new sticky notes and cut out the fun design along the border. I love using these to document within my bible since I can mess up on the sticky note before pasting it into my bible. For the layout within my bible, I wrote a prayer along Psalms 139. I used the starburst stamp to showcase the word stripe sticker truth.
The prayer reads:
I am grateful that you know me fully and completely. You know the plans you have for me. You walk before me and behind me. You lead me in the darkness and guide me in your light. Thank you for knowing me.
I finished the layout with a washi border and the date stamped at the bottom.
Thanks for following along on my documented faith journey! I will be sharing more on my instagram account at CultivatingCasie.
When I saw the journaling card “You are Enough” I knew I had a story tell and a scripture to relate it to. I had a blast playing with grey and pink papers and embellishments.
I used a grainy, filtered Snapchat photo that I took one night after a challenging night at work. Some evenings at work are just plain hard! I want to remember that being a pediatric nurse is a gift given from God and he will provide me with the strength to do this job!
I like making interactive elements in my paper layouts. Behind the enough journal card is were I added my prayer and underneath is the scripture I related it to.
This layout was fun to make and playing with paper was just there art therapy I needed after an emotional night at work.
Thank you Ali for making products that spark stories that are deep inside me (and sometimes I didn’t know was there!)
My heart is grateful that You are always near me, I can call on You and Your Holy Spirit is alive and dwelling in my soul.
May my actions, my words, my thoughts are always pleasing to you. Help me resist the temptation to change who you have made me to be by seeking approval of those around me. May I always let Your light shine through me.
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Galatians 1:10 ESV
Today I praise you with eyes wide open to see the everyday beauty around me. Spring flowers are my remindered today to come into your presence with a thankful heart. I am grateful for the joyful noise of my children that fills my house and my day.
“Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”
Psalms 95:2 ESV
I’ve come to learn that we see through three main lenses: our eyes (our literal vision), our history (all our life experiences), and our atti- tude (the only thing we can really change). Each one informs the ways in which we literally look through the lens of our camera, but it is our atti- tude that we have the most control over. We can’t control our eye sight or our history, but we can control our attitude. I choose joy. – Ali Edwards, Lens of Joy class
Can I use my photographs to find a reason to celebrate life every single day? This is my goal for the next 100 days is to blend photography + praise words to God for the next 100 days.
My plan is to simple notice the goodness around me and photograph it with my iPhone 6. I’ll turn the noticing into a personal prayer of praise to God and share it on Instagram. I am using this project to remind me to look for something each day to celebrate and to transform that into prayer.
My hashtag will be #100daysofcelebrationprayers
