Ali’s August kit + scripture

When I saw the journaling card “You are Enough” I knew I had a story tell and a scripture to relate it to.  I had a blast playing with grey and pink papers and embellishments.

I used a grainy, filtered Snapchat photo that I took one night after a challenging night at work.  Some evenings at work are just plain hard!  I want to remember that being a pediatric nurse is a gift given from God and he will provide me with the strength to do this job!

I like making interactive elements in my paper layouts.  Behind the enough journal card is were I added my prayer and underneath is the scripture I related it to.

This layout was fun to make and playing with paper was just there art therapy I needed after an emotional night at work.

Thank you Ali for making products that spark stories that are deep inside me (and sometimes I didn’t know was there!)

Day 2

Dear Lord,

May my actions, my words, my thoughts are always pleasing to you.  Help me resist the temptation to change who you have made me to be by seeking approval of those around me.  May I always let Your light shine through me.

Amen

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

Day 1

Dear Lord,

Today I praise you with eyes wide open to see the everyday beauty around me. Spring flowers are my remindered today to come into your presence with a thankful heart.  I am grateful for the joyful noise of my children that fills my house and my day.

Amen

“Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”

The 100 Day Project

I’ve come to learn that we see through three main lenses: our eyes (our literal vision), our history (all our life experiences), and our atti- tude (the only thing we can really change). Each one informs the ways in which we literally look through the lens of our camera, but it is our atti- tude that we have the most control over. We can’t control our eye sight or our history, but we can control our attitude. I choose joy. – Ali Edwards, Lens of Joy class

Ali’s quote sparked me to explore how I see the world around me through the lens of my iPhone camera.  Do I document just the stuff of life?  Do I document the messy and explore it deeper?

Can I use my photographs to find a reason to celebrate life every single day?  This is my goal for the next 100 days is to blend photography + praise words to God for the next 100 days.

My plan is to simple notice the goodness around me and photograph it with my iPhone 6. I’ll turn the noticing into a personal prayer of praise to God and share it on Instagram.  I am using this project to remind me to look for something each day to celebrate and to transform that into prayer.

My hashtag will be #100daysofcelebrationprayers

Sufficient GRACE

A single passage of scripture … documenting in two different creative mediums.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This kit is directly related to the new (in)courage book Craving Connection that recently launched. Never heard of (in)courage? Here are the details:

Founded in 2009 by DaySpring, the vision for (in)courage was to create an online home for the hearts of women, where women take turns pulling up a chair to share their stories of what Jesus looks like in their everyday, gloriously ordinary, and often messy lives.

Since then, (in)courage has grown into a vibrant, online community that reaches thousands of women every day, welcoming them just the way they are, offering a space to breathe, loving support, and resources for meaningful connections.

At DaySpring, we love how this community has allowed a space for our friends and customers to not only just connect with one another, but also to build deep, meaningful relationships as like-hearted, sisters-in-Christ. Through blog posts, book clubs, new product lines, webcasts and social media channels, thousands of women are coming together in a place where they are encouraged, heard, and supported. And, honestly, what could possibly be more beautiful than that?
